Overview

Tim Moran is an accomplished jazz guitarist, producer, and songwriter. Tim produces jazz, ska, funk, pop, rock, and heavy metal albums.

His latest pop crossover album, Funkin'Jamz, was released in January, 2025, and features the pop single, She Loves Me

Tim’s fluid style and repertoire of jazz standards compliment art gallery shows, wine tasting events, restaurants wanting live music to enhance the dining experience, private/corporate parties where unobtrusive live music creates a cool vibe while guests visit and share the experience.

Tim was a frequent performer at the legendary House of Blues on Sunset, playing special holiday events (Christmas and Valentine’s Day) in the Foundation Room, and corporate events on the main stage. Tim was a regularly featured jazz performer at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, the ballroom stages on the historic Queen Mary in Long Beach, the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, the main stages for the NoHo Festival, and at many NoHo Art Galleries.

Tim’s music ranges from timeless classics — As Time Goes By, and Isn’t It Romantic; to Latin jazz favorites — The Girl From Ipanema, and Wave; and contemporary jazz — Affirmation, and Moondance.

Tim is a music industry veteran, jazz musician, writer, artist, and award-winning film producer.

He studied guitar with jazz legends Joe Pass, Howard Roberts, and Pat Martino, and graduated from Musicians Institute.

Tim kicked off his career in the music biz in the 1980s, first as a teacher and studio musician, then as a technology leader and executive in the concert industry (1990-present), and an Emmy award winning music documentary film producer.

What to Expect

Tim Moran is an accomplished jazz guitarist who will provide the perfect instrumental ambience for your event. His fluid style and repertoire of jazz standards compliment art gallery shows, wine tasting events, restaurants wanting live music to enhance the dining experience, private and corporate parties where unobtrusive live music creates a cool vibe while guests visit and mingle and share the experience.

Tim will setup and do a brief sound check 30 minutes prior to start time. Tim’s featured instrument is guitar; he incorporates piano, bass, and drums, backing tracks into his solo performances. These were arranged, performed, and recorded by Tim in his home studio. All of the music during the event is performed by Tim.

The first set is 45 minutes followed by a 15 minute break. Additional sets will be 45 minutes with the final set being 60 minutes. The number of sets will be based on agreed upon performance duration. A 3 hour show will have 3 sets; a 2 hour show will have 2 sets; a 1 hour show will have 1 sixty-minute set with no break.

Additional Booking Notes

Tim provides all equipment necessary for his performance, but does require the location/venue to provide adequate power, lighting, access to load in/load out gear, and space to setup for the event (10’ x 12’).
